Dogs, Haggis an' thoo!

As a young girl, this blogger was fortunate enough to spend four years in Scotland, pretending to eat haggis, wearing odd clothes, learning to stick extraneous letters into words, and, more pertinent to this post, watching the amazing sheep dog trials. Those dogs were awesome in the true sense of the word, almost seeming to share a psychic connection with their handlers. Using nothing but whistles and the occasional shout, the shepherds would direct the dogs to cut certain sheep from the herd, move them from one place to another, seperate them into groups, and other staggering feats. These days, you too can see these dogs in action, without crossing the pond to do it! Seems the sport is growing in popularity, with events held across the country, according to this article in yesterday's Oklahoman. Take a look at the article, and if you have the oppourtunity to attend a trial, dinnae be a bampot, go see it!

George expresses his feelings about sheepdogs, and all OTHER dogs, for that matter!

Tambra The Great

Tambra and Kiwi... seperated at birth??

Tambra Galid has been grooming with Best Friends Pet Care for 7 years. She trained at both Nash and Paragon Acedemies. While her work with all breeds is exceptional, she is especially adept with terriers, and known for her handstripping prowess. Breanna and Katie believe Tambra's skill with terriers probably has something to do with the fact that she is as naughty as they are. Just a thought.

A couple things you may not know about Tambra are that she writes (really awesome!) fan fiction in her spare time, and her hubby is originally from a headhunting tribe in Borneo. I kid you not.

If you would like to book a grooming appointment with Tambra, or either of our other fine stylists, please give us a call today! You can contact us at 405-751-1944 from 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, and from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Speaking of Janet....

Yesterday, Janet groomed Bentley, a Bedlington Terrier. Bentley's got a great personality, consistent with his breed. This dog's unique appearance really stands out, with it's

non-shedding, woolly coat giving it the appearance of a lamb on a leash. Check out articles on Wikipedia and the American Kennel Club site for more information about Bedlington Terriers, and give us a call at Best Friends today to reserve a grooming appointment for your unique dog or cat!

Darnit, Janet, We Love Youuu!

Best Friends in Oklahoma City is very proud of all three of our fantastic groomers, and today we'd like to introduce one of them to you.

Janet Harger has been grooming most of her adult life, and has been with Best Friends since '05. Janet has lots of experience with many different breeds; not only does she groom, but she spent 14 years showing Kerry Blue Terriers, Bichons, and Abyssinian cats! She especially enjoys grooming cockers (and they enjoy HER, as evidenced by the look on Georgie's face in the picture above!) and poodles, and if you have a kitty that needs a bath or haircut, Janet's the one to call! Whether it's your puppy's first bath, or your Maltese's monthly makeover, Janet is patient and gentle, utilizing her years of experience to send your dog home with the look you want, and the best experience possible for your pet. Asked what makes her four-footed clients so happy to see her, Janet says it's the extra little massage she throws in with every bath!

Tired of being scratched by over exhuberant displays of affection? Ask about nail grinding when you call, and smooth those newly clipped nails for only $5!

Nasty weather has us turning up the thermostat, which can lead to skin irritation for Fido. We offer a luxurious re-moisturising treatment to help soothe those itchy, dry spots.

Best Friends does grooming 7 days a week, so call today to book an appointment with Janet, or one of our other excellent groomers! 405-751-1944
