Barney W., basset hound extraordinaire, was very vocal today about his hopes to help the environment with the donation of his entire undercoat. While having his picture taken for the blog today, he told us about his strong support of Matter of Trust, and his sorrow for the wildlife being affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Barney is a basset with a big heart, who enjoys belly rubs, ear scratches, a story at bedtime, and a nice suite treat now and then.

Janie P. couldn't wait to help Matter of Trust! Here she is, looking sleek and beautiful, after donating her coat to this great cause. Go Go Gotebo!

Gotebo is one of Oklahoma City Zoo's 12 new Nigerian Dwarf Goats . He and his friends, OOlogah and Perry among them, were named during the Zoo's Name That Goat contest, which asked entrants to submit their favourite Oklahoma town names. Gotebo (Go-tuh-bo) was, understandably, the overwhelming winner! Yay Gotebo! You can go visit Gotebo (hey,new contest - how many times can the name Gotebo be used in one blog post?!) at the brand new Children's Zoo Exhibit, opening March 12. (Gotebo, Gotebo, Gotebo) If you should happen to see people there bearing a remarkable resemblance to Breanna and Katie, ignore them, it's a coincidence. Breanna and Katie are missing work due to illness.

Did Somebody Order a White Christmas?

Merry Christmas everyone, and yes, it's officially a white one! Blizzard conditions here in OKC have the National Guard hopping, but it's warm and cozy here at Best Friends. The dogs, cats, and even Thomas the guinea pig are enjoying toasty temps and full bellies this morning! Some pets are opening Christmas presents, and many doggies are romping in the snow with their playgroups. Breanna, Katie, and several staff members bedded down with the kitties last night after getting snowed in, and can now personally attest to the snuggliness of both the Snoozy Softies and the orthopedic beds offered here at Best Friends! Hopefully, the snowplows will be able to reach us today, so we can spend some of Christmas Day with our families.. keep your fingers crossed for us, please!
